Rio de Janeiro Tourism Guide

In: Travel

You will never run out things to see in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It just hinges on your personal preferences and traveling style. Primarily, there are tourist beaches such as Ipanema and Copacabana. In Ipanema, post nine is where lots of tourists gather. It is a famous location where you can rent a plastic chair and an umbrella. You can also buy vodka, juice and other drinks like fresh coconut juice. Volleyball, fresco ball and soccer are normally played on the beach by both locals and foreigners. While some people just sit on their chairs or towels, others take advantage of the waves and skimboard or swim. There are spacious sidewalks and bike lanes for runners and cyclists on Atlantic avenue, which is the road at the end of the beach. The avenue has become the main road for the neighborhood. Light snacks or drinks of fresh squeezed juice can be bought for low prices in numerous places in the city. Transport is also not a problem because for a mere one dollar, you can take a van or a bus that will take you to any location on the avenue.

You can take advantage of scheduled activities offered by most hostels in Rio de Janeiro. An all inclusive tour of the city including the Christ statue and Sugarloaf can be taken for example. For just three US dollars, one can visit the very gorgeous botanical gardens in the city. There’s also a lake where you can rent a small boat as late as 1 in the morning. Another notable place is the Selaron Steps, which is a long staircase that a local artist covered with tiles. This staircase has been a famous filming location for ads, music videos and photography.
