Bacon: A Tasty Mystery Revealed Now

In: Food

Bacon is thought as one of the most delicious foods in Western society. There are numerous sites dedicated to this subject. There are even fan clubs. Astonishingly, there are actually Bacon shoes (these are not really made out of Bacon but are rather fashioned to seem as if they have been – do a query if you do not believe me).

This, perhaps astonishing popularity, makes me curious. Who invented bacon? How to cook bacon? Can you microwave bacon? How to make bacon? Can we do this ourselves? Which are the best bacon recipes? Is Bacon Healthy? Why do people love it so much?

Fortunately, the internet is a great place to search for resources for such information. A quick search reveals that Bacon is simply cured meat that is made from certain parts of a pig. There are numerous types of bacon which come from different parts of the pig (its belly, its side, its loins, its shoulder and even its cheeks). Additionally, there are lots of methods of preparing it: it can be baked, boiled, grilled, fried, smoked, used as a ingredient in a salad and in numerous additional manners. Indeed, bacon can most definitely be microwaved (i.e. using a microwave bacon cooker), and this is a thing we can do ourselves.

As Bacon is prepared from pork (although in some countries, non-pork based bacon-like foods are also called bacon, which is in my own opinion plainly does not count), is actually prohibited for consumption for followers of Judaism and Islam. Judaism considers pigs as ‘dirty’ or ‘tainted’ animals and as such, all meats made from their flesh are prohibited.

I need to finish, my Spicy Bacon Pasta is waiting for me. I suggest you go and purchase some. You know you want to.
